Money Exchange in Istanbul: Cash, USDT and Crypto
On Oct 30, 2026
If you are looking for money exchange in Istanbul and you hold crypto or USDT, you need a crypto desk, not a normal döviz bürosu. A döviz bürosu swaps one cash currency for another. Coinsfera is a crypto OTC office in Beyoğlu: you send coins such as USDT from your own wallet and collect cash in USD, TRY or EUR, or you pay cash and receive USDT in your wallet. We do not exchange cash for cash. You need ID, and it is best to book first on WhatsApp or Telegram.
Classic money exchange vs a crypto desk
A döviz bürosu quotes a buy and a sell price for cash currencies. You hand over dollars and take lira, or the other way round. Nothing digital is involved. If all you hold is cash and you want a different cash currency, a regular exchange office is the right place, and Coinsfera is not that.
A crypto desk deals in a different kind of asset. You bring a digital coin in a wallet you control, and the desk turns it into banknotes. The transfer happens on a blockchain network, so you also need to know which network your coins sit on before you visit.
The two can look alike from the street, because both have a counter and a rate. The difference is in what you hand over and what you need to prepare. Comparing them side by side:
- A döviz bürosu takes cash and gives cash. A crypto desk takes coins from your wallet and gives cash, or takes cash and sends coins.
- At a döviz bürosu you only count notes. At a crypto desk you also check the wallet address and the network.
- At both, you should ask for the rate before you commit.
When USDT or crypto cash makes sense
People usually come to a crypto office in Istanbul for one of three reasons.
- You hold USDT and want physical cash in the city without waiting on a bank transfer. See our page on selling USDT in Istanbul.
- You have cash and want USDT in your own wallet. Our page on buying USDT in Istanbul explains it, and you can pay with cash or by card in USD, TRY or EUR.
- You hold Bitcoin and want to cash out. The page on selling Bitcoin in Istanbul covers the steps, including the wait for network confirmations.
USDT tracks the US dollar, so dollar notes are a natural fit when you sell it. Other major currencies are available on request.
How a visit works
The process is face to face. There is no app and no online account to open.
- Message the desk on WhatsApp or Telegram, tell them the coin, the network (usually TRC-20 or ERC-20 for USDT) and the amount, and agree a time.
- Come to the Beyoğlu office with your ID or passport.
- Send the coins from your wallet to the deposit address the desk confirms with you.
- When the transfer shows as received, count your cash with the team and keep the receipt.
The Bitcoin page mentions that a visit takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Network speed is the part you do not control, since Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes.
Which one should you choose?
The choice depends on what is in your hand today. If you hold notes and want different notes, go to a döviz bürosu. If you hold USDT, Bitcoin or another coin and want banknotes, or the other way round, you are in the right place at a crypto desk.
Many visitors are travellers or traders who keep their value in dollars on-chain, such as USDT, and want to turn it into spendable cash in the city. Others are locals who want to hold dollar value in a wallet and pay in cash. Either way, plan the visit before you leave home: pick the network, check your wallet balance, and carry your ID.
Where the office is and when it is open
According to our contact page, the office is at Müeyyetzade, Necatibey Cd. No.51/A, 34425 Beyoğlu, Istanbul. It is open Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM and on Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. You can call +90 537 414 09 09 or write to contact@coinsfera.com. For background on the office and the area, read about our Istanbul office.
What you need to bring
Every transaction needs a valid ID or passport, checked at the desk. If you are selling, bring a wallet that holds the coins, and keep a small balance for the network fee in the same wallet. If you are buying, bring the wallet that will receive the coins and your payment. Decide on the network first, because a coin sent on the wrong network may not arrive.
Safety checklist
- Ask for the exact rate before you send anything, and check it again at the desk.
- Get a receipt for every transaction.
- Use only the address and contact details shown on the Coinsfera website.
- Check the first characters of the deposit address twice before you press send.
- Never send coins to an address given by a stranger or a street offer.
